Happy October Yoga-lovelies!

Hot, Power, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, Hatha, Iyengar, Kripalu, Baptiste, Kundalini, Glow-in-the-dark, Aerial, Acro, dare I mention Nude?

No matter the style or the teacher yoga is yoga. It’s like a beautiful painting of a picnic by a pond. Everyone is going to look at that painting and have their own interpretations of it. Some people will notice the elegant brush strokes, or the wave of colours used, the family portrayed and the clothes they wear, or the ducks in the pond, while someone else will see the painting of a family picnic and think, “hmm I’m hungry, Is it lunch?”

Yoga is much the same. You take from it what you need. For some it is a powerful physical practice they experience mostly in the body, while others experience yoga on a mental or emotional or even spiritual level. And there is no wrong way to experience yoga. If your using yoga as a workout and only experiencing the physical aspects it has to offer you might be missing out on the other parts of it, but your not wrong.

What ever your style or practice, yoga is about creating space within yourself for your unique light or life force. Your prana. We come to our mats not to escape but to feel. To step into our own power and breathe into it. What ever we take from our practice we take back into our daily life.

One of my favourite quotes for this month is from Thich Nhat Hanh,

“Enlightenment is when a wave realizes it’s the ocean.”

Just sit with that for a moment.

Have you ever been in a class and your ujiayi breath was especially full and audible that day? And then you noticed others around you with the same wave like breath, and eventually everyone was inhaling and exhaling at the same time. A chorus of breathing. And even though you were just one person in the class if your breath became quieter the ocean of breathing in the room would not be quite as full and beautiful without you.

We are each beautiful beings with our own talents and gifts but together we become so much more. If you’ve ever experienced this you know the power and energy that it creates.

If just our breath can create this energy, imagine what we could accomplish in other aspects of life. In this the month of ‘Thanks’, let’s find gratitude in each other, in our community, in and out of the studio. Celebrate each other’s differences, talents and strengths and appreciate that together we are more beautiful, we are stronger and we are all an important piece of this beautiful ocean we call life.

Classes and Workshops

  • Kids and Family Acro Yoga is this Sunday! Ages 7-11 years.

October 2nd from 1pm to 2:30pm and it’s by donation to our lovely guest instructors

  • Kim Humphrey & Cathy Trask are back to offer Kids Yoga Classes!

There are two – 4 week sessions to choose from or you can do both.

Saturdays 11:30-12:15pm

Session 1 – October 15, 22, 29 and November 5

Session 2 – November 19, 26, December 3 and 10

Each Session is $45

  • Halloween Yoga! A free class with ME (Jasmine)!

Sunday October 30th 1pm to 2:30pm

With fun music and poses to fit the season.

And a healthy but fun treat….. or trick

We are starting the heaters up on Wednesday evenings for the 4:10pm Yin Yang and the 5:15pm Hatha classes.

Keric is adding a Yin class Thursday evenings at 8pm – what better way to relax at the end of the week!
